Happy 2771st Birthday Rome!

Founded on 21 April in 753 BC, today is Rome’s 2771st birthday. Known in Italian as, ‘Il natale di Roma’. To mark her birthday, I wanted to publish an excerpt from my book I Heart Rome. I wrote it with love, from the heart and with a lump in my throat. Because I’m one of those hopeless romantics. One of those people who cries at the end of a romantic

10 photos that keep me falling in love with Rome over & over again

I get so many comments and messages from friends and followers complimenting my photos of the eternal city. My reply is always – “Rome is not all that hard to photograph!” This city has history, monuments and beauty at every turn and here are some of my favourites. Ponte Milvio: Food & Eternal Love in Rome

This weekend I spent twilight and an evening in an area of Rome I’m not all that familiar with. Ponte Milvio, just north of the city centre is right by the Stadio Olimpico (stadium where mostly soccer is played) and is quite the affluent little cul de sac . The area sits on the banks of the Tiber River and its centrepiece is the bridge Ponte Milvio (hence the name!),

La Dolce Vita – One Year On!

A year ago today I was adopted by Rome… I moved into my Trastevere apartment with one suitcase. I’ve since negotiated rental agreements, made so many friends, started and continued my blog (which I am proud to report has over 2000 followers now – not bad for an initial ‘keep my family and friends posted site!) and am working in the field of food tourism – my absolute passion! (cheap
