Want to know what the latest dining trend in Italy is?

As an adopted Roman and Melbourne girl born and bred, it was impossible that I wouldn’t end up writing about food all day long. My hobby and passion – dining – has become my profession and I have no complaints! I have had the pleasure of dining in 1000s of restaurants. From cafes to pubs to bistros to tea rooms to hotel restaurants to multiple restaurants with Michelin stars in

Romeo&Giulietta: Rome’s biggest restaurant set to open

Rome’s most famous female chef (the only female chef in the city with a Michelin star under her belt), Cristina Bowerman is about to open the biggest restaurant this town has ever seen. And gourmands and the local food and wine sector are watching closely and waiting! In mid-March, Romeo&Giulietta is set to put on a real show at what was formerly an abandoned warehouse in Testaccio’s Piazza dell’Emporio. Together

The HeartRome 50 dining highlights of 2016

This was one of the hardest pieces I’ve had to put together all year. How does one wrap up a year of dining experiences when it seems that whether it’s been for work or pleasure, food has been the one constant!  From Michelin stars in Paris, Rome, Capri, San Sebastián, Modena, Bilbao and Verona to trattorias, pizzerias, cafes, street food carts, pubs and gelaterias, here are the 50 highlights of

A foodies guide to Europe’s culinary capital: San Sebastián

San Sebastián in northern Spain (Basque country to be precise), is by no way new to foodie or travel bucket lists. I’d first really heard about this beachside city around 15 years ago when a good friend of mine travelled through that part of the country. I remember her saying it was, “really cool with lots of bars”. Back then, my palate wasn’t yet mature and my travel tastes weren’t

Rome Michelin Star Dining Week

Fine dining doesn’t have to be stuffy or pretentious. And I love it when establishments bring you exactly that – dining in a fine, fine way. You might not even guess (like me) that Enoteca la Torre boasts a Michelin star. I mean it has ‘enoteca’ in its name so you could be forgiven for thinking it’s a wine bar. This one year old Rome restaurant is taking part in

Rome’s Michelin Star Dining Week

International leading restaurant guide DiningCity didn’t host a Restaurant Week in Rome in 2013. But they’ve sure made up for it with the announcement this week of their latest dining initiative. From 21 to 30 March they will host “Cene Stellate” or Dining with the Stars: Michelin Star Dinners across Italy including of course, Rome. The dinners will be hosted by 1, 2 and 3 Michelin starred dining establishments and

Taste of Roma 2013

I know I haven’t been with you for a while (more on HeartRome-hits-USA later) so thought I’d come back to you with a bit of a bang. Be warned: these pics might make you want to hop on a plane and join me in Rome immediately! Today I attended Taste of Roma – a festival of food, showcasing some of Rome’s best chefs. The three day event was held on

Rome Food & Wine Festival: Eataly

Eataly. Eat and Italy = Eataly. Need I say more? A few weeks back I attended the inaugural Rome Food and Wine Festival held at Eataly. The 3 day event featured 15 award winning chefs and 60 wines to taste and transformed the third floor of this mega food store into foodie heaven. Receiving a media pass for the duration of the festival, I did my best to sample everything

La Pergola: Worth every one of its 3 Michelin Stars

I guess it loses it’s “once in a lifetime” status when you dine at a place more than once. But with very special foodie friends in town I couldn’t resist the urge – on having them ask me to book the best restaurant in Rome – to lock in an evening at La Pergola. Located within the Hilton Waldorf Astoria about 20 minutes north of the centre, La Pergola is
