You know you’re NOT in Italy when…

You know you’re NOT in Italy when…

You can get a baggage trolley for free at the airport.

The toilets are clean and there’s toilet paper, just about everywhere.

On that note, you don’t have to pay to go to the toilet anywhere.

You have your shopping bags packed for you at the supermarket.

You can order without paying at the register “la cassa”

Everyone wants to have dinner at 6pm or 7pm…um that’s aperitivo time thank you very much!!!

Summer = a hail storm, a mini cyclone, rain and almost sub zero temperatures (a week after 2 x 40+ days of heat!!)

You can leave your handbag hanging on the back of your chair at a cafe or bar without fear of getting pickpocketed.

You’re driving at 100km per hour on the freeway and police presence on the roads is genuine!

All beaches are free!

Cigarettes cost around AUD$20 per packet!!

Shop assistants and wait staff at restaurants smile and are generally helpful.

That’s all for now!

Signing off from Melbourne (but always thinking of Rome!)

Baci, Maria
