I always liked Caffe` Propaganda. Quite simply, it’s centrally located, cool and fun and has a great vibe. I’ve eaten and drank here many times and it really hasn’t ever disappointed. Owned by entrepreneurs Maurizio Bistocchi, Daniele Quattrini and Edoardo Caracciolo, the place has just had a revamp.
According to them, the philosophy behind their new format is avant-garde; in fact they’ve created an entire menu named Hotel Avantguardia which is designed to take diners on a trip around the world with cocktails and snacks.
Behind the gorgeous bar, you have super talented and renowned mixologists Patrick Pistolesi and Livio Morena and the kitchen has a new young chef by the name, Fabio Pecelli who’s cv reads like a top restaurants of Rome list. Oh and it isn’t just cocktails (although what else do you need really?) – sommelier and experts Valerio Capriotti e Maurizio Bistocchi have curated an extensive and international wine list. Like before, the menu features light meals plus pasta and second courses, but with a refreshed touch (think salads, burger and pasta for lunch and a little more substantial at dinner).
Tonight at the relaunch, here’s what I ate (and washed it down with!):
1) Tortello liquido di Carbonara (carbonara filled tortello) 2) Beef slider with cheddar, red onion and guanciale 3) Ovo misu` (twist on tiramusi, completely edible in a meringue cup)
So – the upshot? It’s the same chic and modern bistrot interiors with a little lift, same friendly staff, out of this world cocktails and a cutting edge menu at lunch and dinner.
If I thought, Caffe Propaganda was great before, I could very well become a permanent fixture round here now!
