Food & Wine, Life in Rome
Porcini and Truffle Degustation
If you don’t follow me on Instagram or Twitter then you probably haven’t been bombarded with my pics of the most fantastic 8 course degustation of porcini mushroom and truffle (that’s tartufo – in case you’ve been living under a rock!) I experienced couple of weeks ago.
(If you do follow me on those platforms, well a little repeat truffle / porcini pic never killed anyone!) 🙂
The dinner was hosted by L’Allegro restaurant – a fantastic restaurant in the Trieste / Salaria area of Rome (about 15-20 minutes drive from the city centre) specialising generally in Sardinian cuisine and seafood.
Course by course we were treated to fine delicacies that left you wanting for more. Safe to say that by the end of the night, I was in a food coma!
This type of dinner – with respect to the produce and quality – on any other day or at any other venue would have been in excess of €80.
Instead we were really really spoilt at a cost of €30 including wine!
Here are the pics…
Polenta with Tartufo and Pork Sausage
Bruschetta with Cream of Tartufo
Porcini Mushroom Bruschetta
Tagliolini with Tartufo
Lasagnetta with Porcini Mushroom
Mixed Porcini Salad
Beef Carpaccio with Porcini Mushroom
Beef with Tartufo
Dessert (added by me!): Chocolate, Pear & Ricotta Dome
L’Allegro intend to host more events including some regional inspired dinners and if this dinner was anything to go by then I want more!
And ASAP!
Signing off from Trastevere,
Baci Maria
